So the former Mayor Barry is in trouble yet again!  Surprise, surprise.  He was recently pulled over for driving too slow (I think that is some BS) and then discovered that he is driving on a suspended license, which he claims is a glitch with the DC DMV (now this I do believe).  On the news this morning the question of whether or not he is being targeted was posed.  So here’s my response.  Yes I think he is being targeted only because he continues to put himself in bad situations, beginning with the infamous crack smoking incident in 1990 (let me refresh your memory).  Not saying that the bull’s-eye on his back is right, but you have to admit it does make sense.

It’s a shame that a man that has made such great contributions to the District of Columbia and our country through his work with the Civil Rights movement continues to make such poor personal decisions.  Does he not have any friends?  Why doesn’t someone tell him to get his $hit together?  Being that the man has done so much and that he is a member of the distinguished Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (skee-phi), I am trying very, very hard to give him the benefit of the doubt, but in the end, I can only shake my head.

His actions bring such shame upon the city and in my opinion the fact that he continues to hold political office is a laughing matter.  People love this man.  I really don’t get it.  Marion Barry has been the butt of many jokes and the subject of many songs—of course not for anything positive he has done.

I guess I am torn when it comes to Marion Barry.  I can respect him for the work he has done but his personal life is a mess.  But then again, is it really any of my business?  Bill Clinton got some “you know what” in the oval office but yet we still love him lol.  Did that affect his quality of work?  If anything it probably made it better.  Oh well, I guess smoking crack is totally different, but you get my point.
