Diary of the Bougie Broad

Life through the eyes of a young, quirky, intelligent, bougie broad.

Bougie.  Snobby.  Bratty.  Spoiled.  Uppity.  Pretentious.  Stuck up.  Snotty.  Self-centered.  Vain.  Conceited.  Sadiddy.  Bitchy.  Selfish.  Yes I have heard them all.  Do these words truly describe me? Not so much.  But either way, these words and many others, have shaped my thinking, how I see the world, and how I live my life.  My blog entries are not meant to be deep, educational, or life changing.  Rather just thought provoking.  I want to foster conversation (good or bad).  Thank you for gracing me with your presence (or should you be thanking me...hmmmm... just kidding!)

Black Friday

“Gobble, Gobble” and Happy (belated) Turkey Day.  I hope everyone is nice and stuffed from the turkey and pies and hopefully you are not one of those crazy people out shopping today.  I just don’t understand the hype associated with Black Friday.  So there are supposedly fabulous sales and the stores open extremely early.  But, you have to deal with unbelievable crowds, traffic, stank salespeople, and the probable chance that that item you are looking for, isn’t there.  No wonder people literally fight over toys!

So I’m writing this because I need someone to explain to me the logic behind going shopping on Black Friday.  I really don’t get it, and this is coming from a true shopper.  I love a good sale just as much as the next person, but I can not deal with everything associated with shopping on Black Friday.

Black Friday is a way for retailers to trick us, the gullible consumer, into losing our minds over these “phenomenal sales”.  Think about it.  Retailers probably have hiked up the original prices of these items in order to take off 70%—are you really getting a good deal?  Or you get to the store, only to realize there were only 15, $100 laptops at the store.  Either way, retailers win.  Once they have you in the store, you are going to buy something lol.  Personally I do about 90% of my Christmas shopping online; I just can not fathom dealing with chaos.  Honestly, I don’t take pity on all of yall who decide to go to the mall today.  You deserve whatever you get lol.  If I hear one more person complain about something related to shopping today, I will go off.  You knew what you were getting yourself in to!

The Friday after Turkey Day is to continue being lethargic from the day before, continuing to stuff yourself with Turkey Day leftovers (yum), and maybe even go to the movies.  Spend some time with your family, not at the mall.  I beg you!  *sigh*  You will probably not listen to me… I’ll just sit back and wait for the news reports to come in about people fighting over Elmos and such.
